History of the Arteon
Volkswagen unveiled its new Arteon at the Geneva Motor show in 2017 as the successor to the Volkswagen Passat CC. The CC had become one of the lowest selling Volkswagen models, with US sales figures dropping from over 29,500 in 2011 to just over 3,000 in 2016. The CC was in dire need of a facelift, and so the Volkswagen Arteon was born.
Volkswagen introduced the Arteon as a premium replacement for the CC vehicle. In contrast to the CC, the Arteon is bigger, has more accessories, a sleeker design and more advanced technology. The newly introduced Volkswagen Arteon accessories include LED headlights and day time running lights, as well as chrome-plated cross-bars of the radiator grille and hood. They are fitted as standard Volkswagen Arteon accessories. These accessories, combined with the latest technology and redesigned exterior have created what Volkswagen calls the ‘ideal avant-garde alternative – a car for people who want a five-door fastback with an accomplished, elegant design and progressive technology’.
The Arteon Specs
The Volkswagen Arteon is a four-door fastback car with a 268-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Vehicle info and specs vary on the model’s version. Variants include a 7 to 8 speed automatic transmission, front to all-wheel drive and 18,19 and 20 inch wheels. For fuel economy, the front-drive Arteons are rated at 22/31mpg for city/highway, but all-wheel drives drop to 20/27.
For safety, all models come with automated emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring. Other safety features that vary between models include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam control, surround-view camera systems and parking-assistance features with front and rear sensors.
Its retail price ranges from approximately $62,000 to $80,000 AUD. Volkswagen offer warranty on the car for four years or 50,000miles (approximately 80,000km), along with two years of complimentary scheduled servicing.
