Tiguan VW (Volkswagen)
The Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover unit (CUV) with a modern design and comfortable ride. It is one of the smallest of Volkswagen’s SUVs, but it delivers outstanding flexibility and practicality.
The Tiguan is similar to many other SUV models and brands like the Audi, Jeep, Kia, Great Wall, Skoda, Subaru, Suzuki, Land Rover, and many others in competition with it. In comparison to its competitors, however, it has advanced modern technology and smooth driving systems that keep it ahead of the pack. The advanced technology weaves its way through each of the Tiguan systems and features; from its mechanics, safety features, interior design and infotainment systems.
The Volkswagen Tiguan is a popular car for its refined driving experience, adaptable seating, and excellent fuel economy. It has a roomy 7 passenger capacity with adjustable second and third-row arrangements. This means that the Volkswagen Tiguan has varying storage space sizes, making it adaptable for a variety of purposes.
The Tiguan’s mechanics
The specs and reviews of the Volkswagen Tiguan make it a fierce competitor for many other makes and models like the Land Rover, Jeep, Kia, Skoda, Subaru, Suzuki and Great Wall. Many car experts praise it for its fuel economy and smooth driving experience, making it stand out from other compact SUVs.
Under the bonnet, the Volkswagen Tiguan has a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that outputs 184 horsepower. It comes with either 2 wheel front wheel drive or the optional 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. Its fuel efficiency averages 11 kilometers per litre; an impressive statistic in comparison to its competitors’ models. The Tiguan also performs well in safety testing, with various safety features like its front assistant auto emergency braking added as standard. Its technology includes base models starting with a 6.5-inch touch screen infotainment system and a six-speaker audio system.
History of the Volkswagen Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the newer Volkswagen car models, born in 2007. The first generation was offered worldwide from 2007 to 2017, built on the PQ46 platform from the B6 Generation Volkswagen Passat. In the UK it came in various trim levels including the S, Match, Sport, and Escape. Its popular features included ESP with a trailer stability program integrated into it, electrically adjustable and heated outdoor mirrors, hill descent and ascent assistance, EDS and ABS adaptation, tire pressure indicator, and many more.
The Second-Generation Volkswagen Tiguan in Australia
The second-generation Volkswagen Tiguan was announced in Australia in 2015, launched in 2016 and still currently in production. It comes in three trim levels: the Trendline, Comfort Line, Sport Line, and High Line. High Line models can also be offered with an R-Line package and the Trendline was discontinued with the announcement and launch of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace in 2018.
Australia has also had two exclusive limited edition models of the Tiguan. The first, the Wolfsburg Edition in November 2018 with only 500 units sold. The second was the R-Line model in April 2019 with only 1000 units sold.
